Intel 3rd Generation Xeon Scalable Processor Warranty Extension Program

Server Solution Providers have two choices in packaging options for their Xeon processors, which include single unit retail boxed products that carry a three-year limited warranty from Intel or multi-unit integration tray products that provide a one-year limited warranty from Intel. This difference left solutions providers with the difficult choice of sacrificing warranty for packaging options that were more suitable and cost effective than single unit retail boxes. These boxes may have provided a longer warranty, but they also had higher freight, more disposable materials, required more stocking space, and took longer to integrate – all of which reduced production efficiency, as well as added further to increased costs.

Having the same warranty options for box and tray packaging would deliver greater value to solutions providers that focus on server systems, as it would provide much needed flexibility. With that, Intel is offering customers the ability to extend the warranty on tray packaged Intel 3rd Generation Xeon Scalable Processors from one-year to three-years through the purchase of warranty extensions that are available exclusively through ASI.

Under the guidelines of this program, Solutions Providers can now purchase tray packaged Intel 3rd Generation Xeon Scalable Processors in one-year or three-year warranty options. This capability combines the integration packaging value of tray processors with complete warranty flexibility.

3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors.

Intel’s 3rd Generation Xeon Scalable Processor (Ice Lake) offers many advances in technology including an increase in core count from 28 to 40, an increase in memory channels from 6 to 8 using DDR4, improved UPI throughput, support for Optane 200 PM, up to 6TB of system memory per socket, and an increase in PCIe lanes per CPU from 48 to 64 all of which are PCIe Gen 4.
